Happy Mother's Day! As a mother and grandmother I am invested in making a good world for my children and grandchildren. Promoting herbal medicine is part of that.
I did a presentation at the Green Living Expo yesterday- Herbal Medicine is Sustainable Medicine. Here's why:
Plants are renewable, they regenerate on their own.
Plants are everywhere, making herbal medicine accessible to everyone. You can use local, plentiful plants- no need to ship from afar.
Plant medicine is affordable, especially if you grow your own or make your own remedies.
Plant medicine is not harmful to the environment. In fact, we must take care of it in order to make use of the herbs. The World Health Organization estimates that somewhere between 70-85% of the world's people still rely on traditional healing ways for their primary health care.
Plant medicine is effective. People have been using it since before we were Homo sapiens. Animals use plants to cure themselves.
It is wholistic. We use the whole plant for the whole person. We know that what we use to heal ourselves must include caring for the Earth and other beings who share it with us.
We need an herbalist in every family and community!
